"The Hebrew word [glory], kabod, means the 'weight' and therefore the 'worth' of something-as we speak of someone whose word 'carries weight.'  The glory of God is the worthiness of God-the presence of God in the fullness of his attributes in some place or everywhere (Exod 16:10; 29:43; 33:19-34:8; Isa 6:3).  The indwelling presence of God was later defined as the shekinah (or 'indwelling'). (The New International Dictionary of the Bible, ¬© 1987 Zondervan, p. 392)
